I haven't been updating because I don't have much to say.

The semester ended. I did okay. Now I'm in summer school. I just keep telling myself "it'll all be over in August" but it feels farther and farther away.

Tomorrow I have two midterms (already!) and I should be studying and writing up notes but instead I've been writing nasty reviews on Yelp and scratching this horrible hives breakout on my thigh.

Anyway, I got a pair of kittens and they're adorable.
I use Dan's old french press nearly every day.
And even though I started wearing gloves at work religiously while working with chemicals, I bite my healthy nails off anyway so they always look jagged and gross.

summary of march 2012

So. I didn't post once this past month and there are a lot of reasons why. I'm not going to go into super detail on what happened in the last thirty one days but I'll try and summarize it pretty quickly:

i paid all my credit card debt. i am now saving $700 a month. i got enough money for summer school. but bad news? my hard drive died, and i had no backups. oh, and my ipod died the week before, so i have no music at all. it's been grim. but some other stuff happened, too.

cheeseburger in paradise sucks.

dan and i went to the honolulu festivals, which was a lot of fun!

i baked a cheesecake. i even let it sit in the oven for a full six hours and the damned thing still cracked! i'm blaming my lack of four eggs (used three instead). dan mentioned that i didn't mix it well... but everyone else seemed to love it all the same.


bubbies! dan's first time. espresso ice cream in a sugar cone and then raspberry mochi/ choco espresso mochi ice cream! woo!


anyway a lot happened this month and i blame my hard drive dying for the lack of posts. more to come soon, though!

random thoughts

I'm pretty sure I'm going to write my final paper for my film class on Ingmar Bergman. I'm working on a more coherent thesis, but I want to basically tie together the theme of repentance and silence, which goes into the lack of God (or perhaps silence from God) in several of his films.

Dan and I went and saw the Oscar Short Films at Kahala Theatre. I wasn't really into any of the live action shorts (except Time Freak, which has this trailer but it's really like only 5 minutes long).



The animated shorts were pretty alright. I really liked this one called Dimache/Sunday. It was about a young boy and his visits to his Grandmother's house on Sundays after church and sort of the world he sees. I really liked the animation in this the most; the other films seemed to all be computer rendered and this felt really authentic.



My neighbor grows a ton of cacti. They're are probably over a dozen types all around his house, decorating the walls. He spends a ton of time taking care of them. Kind of wonder what'll happen to them when he (eventually) dies.
